Hello! It’s been awhile. We spent the first half of February in the Dolomites, one of my favorite places on earth, where Stella was at first afraid of the snow then proceeded to eat as much of it as she could and scream ‘ball!’ over and over at my husband and brother as they made her snowball after snowball.

It was nothing compared to the blizzards across the U.S., but reminded me that I do like snow, despite my anti-winter stance.

We were in Italy for the Olympics! More on that at Be a Better Traveler. And a family guide to the Dolomites coming next week. We also spent a month there last year, which I feel sooo lucky to have done, and I hope an Italian mountain trip can be a new winter tradition.

Packing for a two week, multi-destination ski trip with a toddler is not for the weak! Not pictured: stroller 😅

As for January, we were home in Belgium, where it is decidedly not sunny or snowy, but gray and rainy. Every. Day. It was a very hectic past few months with work and family visiting for the holidays, but going forward this newsletter is about to get a lot more exciting. Which brings me to…

New platform, new look

Travel Better With Kids is now on Beehiv! It’s no longer a Substack publication. If I did everything correctly, there should be no major change for you. Your email has been moved over (of course you can unsubscribe at any time) and you shouldn’t notice any disruption.

Why the switch? Beehiv lets you create articles that only post on a website and aren’t sent to email. I’m hoping to turn this into more of a family travel magazine over the next few months, and this means you won’t get annoying emails every time there’s a new post.

You WILL get a weekly email digest (likely on Wednesdays) highlighting everything that’s been posted that week along with some other random thoughts, links and recommendations. So stay subscribed for that!

In the meantime, check out the website here. Still undergoing some work, so excuse any glitches.

Behold the power of beehiiv

This newsletter? It’s powered by the platform built for growth, monetization, and jaw-droppingly good reader experiences.

From sponsorships that actually pay you fairly to referral programs that grow your list on autopilot, beehiiv gives publishers, creators, and writers the tools to grow their newsletter like never before. And yeah, it is just that easy.
